Nugget Nectar from Troegs Independent Beer out of Hershey Pennsylvania was a very unique brew. Though the hop-forward characteristic of this brew is usually found in IPAs and DIPAs, this beer came in the form of an Imperial Amber Ale.
The brew poured a transparent, beautiful golden amber color with a creamy off-white head. On the nose, the beer presented a slight sweetness with loads of hoppy aromas--grassiness, dankiness, oilyness, and pineyness.
On the palate, the brew really lined up with those aromas. There was a subtle sweetness on the front end manifesting in notes of toasted bread and caramel. Mid-taste, the beer punches you with those hop flavors. The dryness and bitterness pairs very well with the subtle sweetness. A piney flavor was prominent here, along with some other danky and resiny type notes. I wanted to keep drinking the beer--the flavors just paired really well together.
Cheers to Troegs on the Nugget Nectar! #BeerReview #AmberAle #FindYourCraft
