Southern Tier Brewing Company's Choklat Oranj Imperial Stout was an excellent dessert-style beer. Pouring black as night, this hearty beer offered amazing aromas of chocolate, which was reminiscent of fudge cake or brownie, along with hint of citrus.
The palatte was bit more complex, and I would say even more enjoyable. At first sip, the beer presented a noticeable fudge flavor--not overly sweet, but present enough for you to know it was there. A notable booziness surfaced mid-taste followed closely by a bitterness, late-taste, from the darker malts used in the brew. I also perceived a very pleasant and welcome freshness form the orange peel used in this brew. This worked so well with the bitterness from that darker malt.
I really feel that the orange peel did wonders for this brew! It added a unique and fresh dimension, really making the beer very enjoyable. Without it, I feel the beer would have been very one-dimensional. Cheers to Southern Tier on this excellent dessert-style beer! #BeerReview #Stout #SouthernTier #FindYourCraft
