Sierra Nevada is known for putting out some solid beers, and their Sidecar series is no exception. The Sidecar Orange Pale Ale is probably the most well known; however this IPA is sure to make a name for itself as well.
Pale gold in color with a white head, this beer offers notes of floral and citrus hops, combined with the notable aroma of fresh oranges. The taste confirmed these aromas as the highlight of the beer was the hops and the the oranges. During the taste, I especially noted the flavor of orange oil, which comes from the rind. I feel this combined well with the resiny-ness of the some the hops.
For comparison's sake, I likened the use of this orange oil and flavor to the squeezing/twisting the rind of an orange when making an Old Fashioned cocktail. That orange oil taste is so prominent, it was unmistakable. That being said, I feel it works well with the beer, providing an interesting and welcome freshness to this IPA. Cheers! #FindYourCraft #IPA
