Last summer, I did a Series of Beer Reviews on Sierra Nevada's Beer Camp Across the World Collaboration Pack. It was a ton of fun cracking into all of those amazing brews from Sierra Nevada and other breweries from all over the world.
I am revisiting one of those excellent beers after nearly a year of aging-the Dry-Hopped Barleywine Style Ale, a collaboration between Sierra Nevada and Avery Brewing Company out of Boulder, Colorado. Now if you know anything about these breweries, you know that they specialize in creating amazing Barleywine Style beers, and this collab was no different!
I enjoy a good barleywine, and a year of aging on this beer really worked out in its favor. The brew provided a solid malty sweetness, reminiscent of caramel, toasted bread, and toffee while also offering an amazing hop-forward character. This maltiness and the hoppiness paired so well together, and the aging process really made these flavors that much richer. Not only were the flavors richer, but I feel that they married really well together too!
Cheers to this amazing brew and to the innovation of these two great breweries! #FindYourCraft #Barleywine
