Corn Star is NoDa Brewing's second installment in their Southeastern IPA series. The Southeastern IPA is just like a Northeastern IPA, aside from the fact that some of the adjunct grains are swapped out for grits.
Grits, which come from corn, are a staple here in the South, and I must say that they add an interesting flavor the beer. Corn Star was lightly malted with a white bready type flavor, combined with that slightly sharp grittiness from the grits. All of this was rounded off by a healthy dose of hops which reminds you that you really are drinking an IPA.
This was a solid beer, and I definitely appreciate the risk of the addition of grits. Cheers to NoDa Brewing! #NoDaBrewing #BeerReview #IPA #FindYourCraft
