The Bye Bye Bye New England Style Double IPA was a rather tasty and unique brew. Coming in at 9.5%, this DIPA has definitely earned the 'double' in its name as the booziness was definitely prominent, and it was a heavier beer. I have to note that this is the first New England Style Double IPA, and it was a great one!
The beer poured a hazy, cloudy golden color with a strong white head. The aromatics in this beer were amazing--even from afar. I detected citrus and tropical aromas--mango, papaya, cantaloupe, lemon and lime.
On the palate, the brew offered notes of lightly toasted bread and caramel combined with some amazing hop flavors, reminiscent of mango, papaya, cantaloupe, grapefruit, and citrus rind. The beer was soft on the palate, courtesy of either some flaked wheat or oats in the brew.
All in all, I really enjoyed this beer. It's definitely on the heavier side for NEIPA; however, it was relatively easy drinking. Cheers to J Wakefield Brewing on BYE BYE BYE!
