Tart Berry from Green Man Brewery in Asheville, North Carolina is the first Berliner Weisse on the show, and I was pleasantly surprised!
Ruby red in color with a pink-white head, this tart brew provided aromas of sour fruit and strong sour and tart flavor. I also detected hints of raspberry, blackberry, and possibly some strawberry--but mainly the two former.
The beer was rather easy drinking at 4.2%, though if you aren't used to sour beers, you may need to sip on this one. I feel the addition of the berries helped define the tartness of the beer-in a way, it reminded me of sour juice. If you're a fan of sours, you'll enjoy this Berliner Weisse. Also, if you're a wine drinker moreso than beer, give this one a try-or any sour beer for that matter. I think you will find some similarities to wine in these unique brews. Cheers! #FindYourCraft #BerlinerWeisse
