Beer Review: Zweibruder, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery

Writer's picture: JoshJosh

Meet Zweibruder, an American Wheat Ale unlike any other. This St. Patrick’s Day special release by Olde Mecklenburg Brewery in Charlotte, North Carolina is truly in a league of its own.

A beautiful, hazy golden brew with a generous, frothy head greets the taster, while notes of wheat, lemon, and hoppy citrus hit the nose. After this setup, the taste definitely does not disappoint as the beer showcases a very subtle malty-wheat sweetness, coupled with a surprising, yet very welcome, hoppy goodness.

This is everything you could want in a wheat beer while surprising you with a pleasant hoppy kick mid and and post-taste, courtesy of Cascade and Centennial hops. The beer finishes off with a lingering dryness which definitely leaves you wanting more. Zweibruder was incredibly balanced as I found myself experiencing a plethora of flavors with each sip. Cheers to Old Mecklenburg Brewery on another amazing beer which highlights their innovation and commitment to amazing beer.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, and as Olde Meck says, “Prost!”.
